I know it’s still a little early for thisĀ type of baking (considering Ontario peaches are just on their way out!) but this recipe sounded so good that I couldn’t resist. Plus I had 3 over ripe bananas staring at me. I did not use nuts (EW! NUTS!) and I substituted plain yogurt for sour cream.
It’s seriously the very best banana bread ever. Perfect.
nuts ruin good banana bread for sure!
I daresay that nuts ruin pretty much everything. I love them on their own but pretty much hate them in anything. Especially walnuts, blargh, they’re always rancid.
YES!
I couldn’t agree more! I have a walnut allergy. I am forever being disapointed when I encounter banana bread, carrot cake, coffee cake and then find that they have walnuts added. Why?! Why must they ruin my favourite cakes with some weird semi-soft-semi hard chunk that doesn’t make it taste better, but worse?
I will have to give this recipe a try. I do adore banana bread.
Stupid nuts, desert wreckers. On more than one occasion I have claimed a nut allergy when asking about a banana muffin or carrot cake.
They’re just useless filler.
Useless filler indeed!
Unless it’s pecans, I totally heart pecans but even though are only tasty after you toast them! That’s the secret to adding good nuts to anything really.
I also lurve banana bread!
Will have to try this out on the kiddies soon! No nuts though as we are totally nut free at the daycare.
LOL, why do they always put bananas in everything? I hate bananas!
Hatred of nuts in things is obviously genetic. I hate them too. xo
Steph, pecans will be allowed to survive the nut apocalypse but only because pecan pie is good eating.
Janet-I am pretty sure Shannon feels the same way about bananas. I guess you guys missed Kirk Cameron’s memo about them being God’s perfect fruit?
Haha, Caitlin, I did not miss it, I disagree :)
How can you disagree with Kirk Cameron? I hear he is best buds with god. He seems to have read god’s diary at least, with all his insight into god’s thoughts.
The moral of the story is: Bananas = good. Nuts = Bad.
Well that makes me a minority being Pro Nut and all, but I love, love, LOVE toasted pecans in banana bread :P
It’s scary to think that for some people, Kirk Cameron is a voice of reason.
OF REASON.
Try not to start crying as you think about how seriously terrifying that is.
And I just hurt my throat laughing at your last comment, Laura.
Just to be super clear: I love nuts. But I don’t love them IN things, other than bowls or bags. Other than pecan pie. But not in any kind of bread or cake or stir fry. Or ice cream.
I put nuts in my chocolate chip cookies too…but they are more nut and chocolate chips rather than cookie dough…very very nummy (and still my favorites are pecans, but I have been known to use macadamia’s too :) )
I’m here to reprazent for nuts in food.
Chocolate, nuts of all sorts, I’m even okay with roisins, but leave the banana where it belongs – on a banana-tree!
