Further autumnal rambling

By in a good day, Art!, food

Shannon’s already writing about our afternoon of pumpkin carving, so I won’t bore you with the details. I will cause jealousy by telling you how good the pumpkin seeds smell while roasting in the oven (325 for 25 minutes, drizzled with olive oil and salt). They are popping! They have similar teeth. Erm, and eyes. […]

Dessert

By in babies, food, making stuff is good

Supper was a bit of a bust for the women in the house, so we over compensated by making rice crispy treats. Guess who picked the colour. I also visited Emily and the babies, who seem to grow funnier and cuter every time I go. It’s amazing how different they each are, and we’d wondered, […]

They’re grape

By in food

I spent a couple days at my mom’s house, as you already know, and we went to the market early Saturday morning. The only thing I got there was a giant bag of grapes for $2. Oh, I got a quesadilla there too, but I ate that as we were walking. Anyway, the grapes are […]

In a jiffy

By in food, we have fun

I’d been dreaming about having an air popper, so Shannon picked up some Jiffy Pop instead. It was surprisingly good! Not how I remembered it at all, not burnt or nasty. The only mishap was the foil bursting and popcorn flying everywhere. Then we went for a swim and the sky also looked like popcorn. […]

Queen of the kitties that works on her computer

By in a good day, food, we have fun

I got to make supper today because the other people that live here -and I am mostly speaking of the taller one- were out at Buskerfest all day changing the colour of their faces.  I already wrote about making pickled beets, so I won’t repeat that story, but I also made stuffed zucchini and half […]

Good news vs. Bad news

By in a good day, daily grind, food, we have fun

I had a great day. Seriously. The three of us went out for lunch today at a funny little weiner restaurant that was pretty good, apart from the sporadic-at best-service. While there, I saw a flier for a farmer’s market that is reasonably close to where we live and was happening today. SO, I rode […]

Yo, yo, yo

By in food, friends

We drove to Lindsay yesterday to visit our old friends and former co workers, the Wardens. Their farm is so intensely jealous making, it’s not even funny. I controlled my urge to pick up baby chicks, but I did get to scritch one of their black lambs. So cute. Wow. This morning we all trekked […]

Mmm! Cake!

By in food

I love cake just like anyone loves cake. For some reason today I have been laughing at cake websites. Cake Wrecks is great, so funny and I looked at all the pictures (and I read the captions) straight through to the end and laughed a lot. This one might be my favourite of all time. […]

Comments

By in daily grind, food, haha

I moderate your first comment because if you want to say mean stuff, you at least have to be nice the first time. Too bad for Jack from BC who made this comment: It’s a comment on my entry about pigs. I wanted to let it through, but I just couldn’t do it…I don’t even […]

The long and short of it

By in food

I got my hair trimmed today, it looks great, thanks. To celebrate I made rice crispy squares that I liberally sprinkled with skor toffee bits. Yes, they are good. And yes, melted marshmallow is hard to get out of your hair.
