Small renovations

By in dollhouse

I went to Dollarama today to pick up reno supplies. I spent $25 there, which is a LOT of stuff. Other than glue, sand paper, double side tape and that sort of stuff, the best score was 2 bamboo placemats. I removed their edging and trimmed them to fit and now I have a wood […]

Damage

By in dollhouse

Close ups Roof: Upstairs: Family room: Kitchen: It looks like some helpful child tried to draw a rug upstairs. The good news is that it’s easy to find paper flooring for dollhouses. There’s a dollhouse store near work that I plan on visiting soon. Alternately I can just print out patterns here. Haven’t decided yet!

Dollhouse thrills!

By in dollhouse

We went and picked it up this morning and I could not be happier. Well, ok, I could be happier, but I am super happy.  I think I paid exactly the right amount for what I got. Part 1: As you can see there’s extensive water damage on the lower level. Or is it water? […]

Miracles can happen

By in toys

I’ve decided I want a dollhouse. I know. It’s a little weird. Hear me out: My best friend Veronica had a dollhouse when we were growing up. It was a Lundby, and she probably got it in the late 70′s. Her dad was in charge of buying all the furniture and accoutrements so mostly it […]

La plus ca change

By in daily grind, Griping

With apologies to Ryan and Corrie. Who can recognize this? Too hard? Here’s another angle: Now can you tell? Living in a big city can be fun (you get to listen to people sing along with their ipods) but it can also be depressing. Especially when Queen St W has a Tim Horton’s.

Cool replies

By in a good day, we have fun

A couple things I have written (privately) have generated cool replies lately. First, I wrote to The Names Brand tshirt website to point out that they were missing a Howard Stern shirt. I sent the email on February 26th. They wrote me back on the 5th of March to say that my shirt idea had […]

POO!

By in making stuff is good

I started a new crochet project without really thinking too hard about the fact that I didn’t own enough of the yarn required. It’s Bernat Satin (or perhaps Satin Sport-I don’t keep the wrappers, that would be too logical) and it’s available at Zeller’s for really cheap. Of course, when I went to Zeller’s today […]

Super supper time!

By in food

Have you ever made something from scratch (well, more or less) and it came out pretty much perfectly? I experienced that tonight. At work, I made us tomato sauce and it was so good. I could have had a bowl of that with no pasta and I would have been happy. Sauce: 1/2 zucchini, small […]

The olden days

By in food

I went to see my parents today in St.Catharines.  We all went to see Madama Butterfly at the movie theatre, part of the Live At The Met series. Butterfly is a pretty huge show, popularity wise, but I am not sold on it’s story. Very sappy and kind of embarassing. I know, she’s 15 and […]

Further updates

By in daily grind, love

1. My ring As anyone could guess, it weighs a ton and took me a while to get used to. Typing was the hardest adjustment-I worried for a while that my s and w keys would be broken, but they’re fine. It’s been well received by everyone-literally everyone-who sees it in real life (and not […]
