How you can help

By in babies, crochet, Griping, making stuff is good

Here is a picture my lady Libs posted yesterday on Facebook.

20120523-091752.jpg
It’s her happy baby Niamh enjoying herself at the park while sitting on a quilt I gave her. See? It is a picture of the thing I made and gave away being used. This is what I wish everyone I gave my shit to would do and yet, sadly, they don’t. Perhaps I need to be more explicit when I give away something that has taken me hours of labour, blood sweat and often tears, “when you get this home I need you to take a picture of it somehow, preferably with you in it. And smile, dang it.”

Luckily Niamh doesn’t need to be told to smile.

This is me hoping that anyone who is in current possession of something I have made and given away will kindly take a couple of nice pictures and send them to me. You are allowed to say that I’m not allowed to blog it, that’s fine. Please!

So cute! I gave a baby quilt away and it took them quite awhile to figure out I made it… they thought I’d bought it and were like “oh, nice”… I was a little deflated! I hear you on needing the using-it-while-smiling-picture kinda thanks!

the gorgeous quilt you gave me is on my bed right now! it is the perfect thing – not too warm not too cold, perfect for spring!

The Amish have my quilt tops, apparently they won’t get to them until October, so it’ll be a while until I get them back!

Will definitely send you a picture with smiles when they return!

Megan, take a picture of it and email it to me! I know I already have pictures from here but I’d really like to see it en situ.

Ashley, no sweat! I can’t wait to see what those women do to them!

Thanks, Andrea. It came out much nicer than I anticipated. I really ought to go back to my quilt guild meetings. I’m such a slacker.

This quilt, btw, fits perfectly in my stroller bag (with room to spare for other baby junk) so it’s easy to take with us to the park.
I know what you mean about getting photos. It’s just nice to see your hard work being used and appreciated. I always take photos of my sewn and knitted gifts. When it comes to knitting, a photo also helps the knitter see if what they’ve made really fits or if they need to adjust the pattern.

I hear you! I have made a lot of baby clothes and toys and have never seen them being loved or used. which makes me not want to make things for other people anymore. If they are just putting the stuff in the closet or giving them away, I dont see the point :(

The kids and I decorated Das Boot today, I’ll email you pics if you want, but i don’t have your email! I am putting them up on my blog though!

J uses her blanket ALL THE TIME! She caught a cold a few weeks ago and drug around the gorgeous white/yellow striped blanket you made for her to curl up on the couch with. I’ll try to snag a photo, it’s still in great condition. You make the most beautiful blankies!

  13. Caitlin Jane says:

Send me a picture, Cole! I totally forgot about that blanket but I’m glad you mentioned it. And I’m super thrilled J still uses it, that’s wonderful!
