On our last family vacation to Mexico, Ari and I spent a day together at Xcaret. It is part water park and part zoo. Sort of. It is a fantastic place with tons of things to do and if you ever find yourself in the southern part of Quintana Roo, I highly recommend it. The very first thing we did when we got there was swim the mile long tunnels. Yes, we did the whole thing! We caught and released butterflies, patted manta rays, scritched horses and watched a Mayan twirly sky dance.
We also got our picture taken with these adorable parrots:

Which, for Xmas, from memory, Ari made into a painting for me, which I love:

What a great painting and a wonderful adventure…how cool!! Thanks for sharing…
What a great painting and wonderful Chrimmy prezzie. Ari is a terrific artist. xo
How fun! I’ll have to keep this in mind — we’re going to Cancun this year.
[...] out nicely. Which reminds me, she just posted a picture of the beautiful painting that Nefarious painted her for Christmas. Oh, and I’ve also been converting Ryan’s blog (which I still have a link to, I know, [...]
Xelha is great too, Sarah. If you’re staying at a resort the tour operators always offer awesome deals to these places, including bus and lunch, it’s easier than trying to DIY. Xelha is more swimming and Xcaret is more animals, but both have both.
holy crap! that painting is awesome :) The trip sounds amazing too!
CUTE!
I’m blown away by Ari’s painting!!! It’s fantastic. What talent she has. So, here’s my question: When Ari is next in Toronto with you, may I please ‘commission’ a painting from her. I have something in mind. Perhaps I can be her first ‘patron’.
Thanks for sharing this.
love miriam
She is very talented. I’m not sure when she is here next but I’ll ask her!
Dude, she even remembered what you guys were WEARING??? Aside from the time and thought and love and.. heck, she’s one helluva artist… the flatery and the KNOWING that she remembers this so vividly must be simply amaze-balls! (ahem)
I like it too.
A lot.
