Traveller

By in crochet

Long time no blog, sorry. My writing juices runneth low of late. I blame George R.R. Martin and his incredible books. Never in my life have I ever-I mean it, ever-read any fantasy books or period books. These are both and I’m somehow completely absorbed. I’m only 121 pages into the second book, A Clash of Kings, and loving it. And yes, I saw the HBO series, hello, Sean Bean!

And we have done some traveling. I don’t have a camera so I can’t post anything. I have tan lines, that’s about it. Well, that and I love Mexico, I plan on living there some day.

In crafting news, I finally figured out what to do with all those vintage sheet squares I cut with no plan: a traveller! Yes, I realize I didn’t put it together using traditional techniques, but I do think I’m close enough. It looks very perky and girly me. I won’t talk about how strip piecing nearly drove me bananas, my stitch ripper got a workout.

Shannon’s camera did something weird with the focus and colour and I have no real way to correct that, sorry. The centre square is pink, as are the murkier looking solid squares interspersed with white squares. The back will be pieced, naturally, which is what I’m in the middle of figuring out.

In personal news, way too personal news, I got a pad stuck in my hair last night. A sign, perhaps, that it is time for a hair cut.

I’ve read your and Shannons blogs for a long time, rarely comment but I just had to this time. I”m reading George R.R. Martins books right now too, they are so good! I’m about 2/3 of the way through the fourth book, a Feast for Crows. I love the show too, especially for how amazingly it follows the book.

There are parts I’d like to be a little more thorough, I love Jon Snow in the book but less so on the series, but you’re right, it’s incredibly close. Thanks, Amanda!

Welcome back! My blogging juices have been low for a few months, and my commenting juices even lower. I’ve been reading all the things I usually read, but yeah, no energy to comment.

I found a stick in my hair a month ago. It was about five inches long and it had been there for at least an hour. My dreads seriously have a life of their own.

Oh dang I also wanted to say that quilt is amazing!! It’s definitely one of my favourites so far.

I had a friend a long time ago with dreads and I counted them once and realized he only had 7 so of course I wrote a story, Smeg and the Seven Dreads, it was cute. Are you ever in Ontario, Collette? Because we would hang out if you were.

“Crack on paper” is the best description I’ve ever seen for ASoIaF. I started reading when I started watching the show, and pretty much didn’t leave the house except for work and grocery shopping until I finished with A Dance with Dragons. Now I’m reading through the whole damn thing all over again, because there are so many little details I missed the first time around.

I look forward to the day where I’ve read all 5 and can go through them more thoroughly. I often think I’ve skipped whole paragraphs because I’m in such a hurry to keep going. As it stands, I’ll finish Clash of Kings before we leave for vacation so I’m heading out today to hunt down a used copy of Storm of Swords.

  8. Sarah says:

Haha, exactly. It’s hard to slog through a Davos chapter when you know an Arya chapter is next. At least for me it is.

  9. Caitlin Jane says:

Arya and Tyrion are my favourites. Oh, and Jon Snow, big tiiime.

  10. Amanda says:

My favorite is Danaerys I think. And then Jon Snow.

  11. Sarah says:

I’ll admit it, I’m in love with Jaime Lannister and I don’t care what anyone thinks.

  12. Caitlin Jane says:

Ah! Ha ha, SARAH! Isn’t that illegal or something?

Ps check the GoT schwag on hbo.com. I want all the shirts!

Totally out of the picture re the books but I love the quilt. xoxo

Smeg and the 7 Dreads sounds awesome! I wanted to count mine recently when I realized I didn’t know how many I had. Didn’t do it, for some reason. They must have been up or something. Just counted ‘em now. 52.5! The half a dread is because I have two that grew together somehow. It started as 2 so the ends are 2, but near my head they join into one.

Also yes, I think we’d get along just dandy! I’m in Toronto every once in a while. Hangouts someday I hope! I have tons of friends there these days. Hoping I can get my boss to send me to a conference there this year. I love visiting there.
