The dumb part was the pricing: single ones were 99 cents and pairs hung together were $2.99. And this might make sense if there were just a bunch of odd, single pillowcases (I mean, to pay an extra dollar to have a pair) except that 2 of the pairs were hung as singles. So I asked nicely at the cash if I could have them all for 99 cents each, saving myself $3, and the cashier was cool.

Hm. Writing that down makes it sound confusing, but it does make sense!
