The only store I regularly shop at is good for putting out single plates, but I know it’s a reflection of the manager there who’s attitude is that because the store is downtown PUT OUT EVERYTHING and PRICE IT HIIIIIIGH!!! I’m pretty certain that every stitch of every clothing that is donated there is priced no matter the stains and holes. When I worked at the VV in Windsor we ragged off ( aka throw away) more than half the donated clothes for whatever reason. I’d get in trouble and potentially fired for most of what I see on the floor here, it’s crazy. I also see chipped and cracked dishes, water logged books and Barbies with all their hair hacked off for sale and not for the lowest price either. It’s a bit mind boggling!

(The worst are the pants/ jeans at this store, I don’t even bother looking at them anymore. The pricers obviously don’t check the interior crotches and I’ve seen plenty of yeast infection evidence. So gross. Ladies, you don’t have to wear underwear, I don’t care, but wash your jeans before you donate them, mmkay? Ditto older gents with leaky pipes. No one wants to buy your trousers with 20 years of dribbled piss in them, thanks.)

I wish I could find single china plates in charity shops in the UK (they’re thrifted plates, right?), I don’t think the otherworldly old ladies who run them understand the appeal & they chuck out the single plates in favour of really naff 1990s non-china sets with, like, “PASTA PASTA PASTA” painted round the rims. I despair.
