My mother has a couple Irish fellows staying with her (well, they’re off to Havana tomorrow for a week) who are SO NICE and we just love them to death. Anyway, my mom has a couple bird feeders on her back deck that were just flooded with wildlife. Tons of goldfinches, house finches, morning doves, sparrows, juncos, chickadees, squirrels, blue jays and cardinals. Sitting and watching them battle at the feeders was so awesome, better than so called ‘festive’ tv programming.
The Irishmen found the cardinals to be so exotic.
I do too. Lovely.

I love watching cardnials, I find Blue Jays beautiful too, but they are so MEAN. It is fun to watch them chase cats though!
Jays are assholes. But so beautiful!
My favorite are the woodpeckers my parents get at their feeders. They get at least four varieties. We got to see a Northern Flicker at the suet feeder on Christmas Day. They are gorgeous, majestic birds.
And I definitely agree on Jays being assholes.
Cardinal’s are so vibrant against the winter landscape, I love it!
Although I just left Toronto earlier this afternoon and there’s almost no snow but Jesus Christ it was colder then Montreal!
