My brother’s ex somehow set her work email to blind copy me every time she emailed her boss. Since she was an HR director at Canadian Tire’s head office (at Yonge and Eg) I kept getting reports on people’s progress evaluations and such. Mostly boring…then one day I got notes on a guy’s evaluation since his uncontrollable anger issues and the incidents he instigated in the office.
It asked for everyone’s feedback. So I sent back my professional opinion. I think he was remorseful and while his actions were inexcusable in the workplace, I was sure that he wouldn’t repeat his behaviour after his good efforts in rehab.
The glitch was fixed after this.

I wish I had thought of your friend’s great celeb idea. It would make me feel guilty as well, but not enough to stop reading and responding occasionally.

When gmail first came out, I wondered how many people would send emails to a celebrityname@gmail, assuming it must be the celebrity’s email. I thought it would be a good laugh to see some of these, so I spent awhile trying various celebrity names until I found one that wasn’t registered. As it turns out, this (minor) celebrity must have almost the exact same email address because I get emails from his mother, some other minor celebrities with their address inviting me to a barbecue, etc. At first it was hilarious but every time I log in (which is rare) I feel really guilty. I even wrote a McSweeney’s open letter to him but felt too embarrassed to send it in. He has a blog now with comments enabled, but it’s been literally years now so I would look even worse saying something so late!

Hahaha! I get emails for a girl with the same name as me who works for the state of Ohio. Her emails are nowhere near as fun.
