I had no fear for dogs until I was 6 years old when a German Shepard that I knew quite well attacked me from behind when I was running through the neighborhood a little after dark in winter. He threw me onto the ground, sat on my back and growled or barked whenever I tried to move. I was hurting, elbows, knees and hands were blleding from the fall and it was very cold there on the ground. After a felt lifetime (probably 10 minutes) I was rescued. Since then, dogs and especially barking dogs scare the heck out of me. The dog was put to sleep after it seriously hurt another child a few weeks later.

Creepy story, isn’t it?

I don’t think it was Sehneshwhatevertheheckthatwordis, it never bothered my thumb. I’ve also had tennis elbow in my right arm. But thanks, you’re always so kind. Sorry you’re afraid of dogs. My problem is opposite, I have almost no practical fear of them at all. And I think this most recent bite made me think of the few times I was bitten as a child, scary memories.

I really do think I just need to lop off that whole limb. I always knew there was a reason I loved Shannon so much: bring on the cutters!

I made the Herculeskian effort to find what I mean in Wikipedia and did:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DeQuervain%27s_syndrome

DeQuervainSyndrome is Sehnenscheidenentzündung for english speaking video game geeks.

But I wish you a fast recovery. Sounds like suing the dog owner is not what you want, I would, no matter what, but I’m scared to death of dogs anyway.

Have a good day, you deserve it.

It’s surprisingly refreshing and uplifting. I’m sorry the American health care system isn’t more helpful for you.

My hand’s feeling much better today. And I think it’s mostly because I just talked myself out of the pain. I’m still taking a break from Indiana Jones…

I have symptoms of CTS, but the test came out negative, so I’m stuck with permanently numb fingers because it’s a work-related injury and they won’t spring for a second opinion. I can go to some hippy dippy hand therapy for a few weeks but that’s it.

Try sleeping with a wrist brace if it comes back. It doesn’t do jack but that’s what every a-hole doctor in the world will tell you is a magic cure.

Sigh.

That might be fun, but it also might be hellish. I’d prefer the former.

Laura: I spoke to the dog’s owner last night, she’s so nice, I really like her a lot-they live just up the alley from us. She runs a dog walking/sitting/boarding company and always has 1,000 dogs hanging around. It’s her own dog that bit me, Bean. Bean’s the Alpha dog, she’s short in stature and can’t see through or over the new fence they have so she gets angry when she can’t see who’s coming. I think she really gets herself worked up, so by the time I lean over the fence to show her it’s me, someone she’s familiar and friendly with, it’s too late and CHOMP.

I too dream about video games, but not this one. I also used to have dreams about sorting hockey cards when I worked at a sports card store. Oh, subconscious, how I love thee.

Jana: It’s actually feeling better today, much better. But I think I need to figure out a better way to sit while playing DS! I think there’s a funny nerve in my elbow, right at the inside bend part, that’s exposed when I am laying down, elbows bent with the DS resting on my chest, it’s what is leaning on the bed, that was pressed for too long!

Normally I take a week or two off and it goes back to normal. Fingers crossed!
