Sewing 101

By in crochet, love, making stuff is good

Ari had already done some stitching in her Casa school, but this was her first time doing actual hand sewing (at least with me). Her webkin kitty had burst her belly seam and required immediate attention:

sew and sew

Oh, that’s pretty. Even my mom and dad pointed out my grey hair last time I saw them-although, I’ve had them for 10 years. Hmph.

sew and sewer

Orange kitty survived with no pain killers. Brave girl!

I’ve signed up for another class at The Workroom-there’s a double wedding ring quilt class starting in May that I’m pretty excited about.  I am not too worried about colour-I’ve recklessly ordered some mini jellyrolls from etsy that were on sale. I just…hope I like what I get, haha. I’ll be using a dark grey, almost black, denim for the background. It’s practically a chambray, it should look wicked awesome.

Now I’m off to top up the pond!

WOW.. good luck with the new quilt class! You’ll be super skilled after that! I’m not sure I have the sewing prowess to complete such a difficult looking block. I have always found it difficult to sew with intention, like purposely sewing straight or purposely sewing on a curve. :)

I’ve never bought a jelly roll before.. are they just precut strips?

Jellyrolls seem to have varying number of strips in them but they’re always (I think!) 2.5 inches wide and the length of the width of the fabric, so 44-45 inches.

They’ve devised some way at the Workroom of making this pattern easier, it’s all appliqued…but I guess I will find out the deets once I get there, but I am pretty excited about all of it and will post regularly once that ball gets rolling along.

    Jelly rolling along. Heh.
