Since switching (back) to knitting-from crocheting-I’ve noticed my attitude towards yarn has changed drastically. Because crochet is such a yarn suck, I pretty much used acrylic yarns exclusively. They work great for amigurumi anyway, cheap and bright. Now that old stash lays dormant in my bins, and I buy nicer yarn for knitting.
Here’s my current stash basket, full of beautiful yarn, needles, patterns, yarn labels, snips, magazines and candy-everything a knitter needs. It’s an old laundry basket, lined with cotton, and I sewed pockets from retired jeans around the perimiter to use as needle holders. I also got a makeup brush holder from Body Shop and use that for smaller dpn’s.
Ziploc bags are also a knitter’s best friend. The 2 big balls in the middle were a gift from Ashley, delicious chunkiness from Nora Allen. I’m thinking beret. Or mittens.
More stuff I love: I’m on a rose perfume kick right now. It started with a need for soap in the bathroom, we always have a supply of Dr.Bronner’s, usually peppermint because it’s nice and tingly feeling, but I bought a small bottle of the rose scented soap last time, just to try it out and I LOVE it. It’s so pretty smelling, not like granny underwear drawer at all. Now I also have rose perfume from Noah’s and it’s awesome.
Signed a little person up for her first gymnastic classes this morning. She starts on Wednesday and couldn’t be more excited about it. The gym is a block from our house, so that’s nice too. There’s actually an adult’s class once a week that I am seriously considering joining. Maybe baby.
Now I am off to buy cat food for the old grey rag!

Hmmm – Rose the rag and rose the aroma. Sounds like the beginning of one of those old impossible riddles.
Your yarn basket looks yummy enough to eat. xoxo
H&M has a nice rose smelling perfume, I love it! Smells so fabulous :)
Amma Rose is one of my favorite rose scents ever. http://www.theammashop.org/mabl.html It’s made by EO and you can buy at health food stores. I’ve only used the lotion, but it comes in shampoo/conditioner and perfume oil. Also, thanks for introducing me to Kuniyoshi. I love him!
I didn’t even know H&M had perfume, go figure. I’ll look next time I am at Duff Mall.
Amma sounds very VERY nice. I’ll look for that too. Rose shampoo would be heavenly!
The rose perfume I have is just a tiny bottle of oil.
I’m a rose perfume fanatic.
I really like Moroccan Rose by the body shop.
Hi Caitlin! As a fellow knitter who uses Ziploc bags, I like adding a fabric softener sheet from the dollar store to each bag that I plan to keep in storage for a bit. They’re great for keeping that one sock & remaining yarn for, well, knitting the other sock someday. :)
ha, I use ziplocs too! and I love your basket with the jean pockets! I am currently battling a mouse problem and the little bastards chewed on the bottom of my bag. it’s a tall, stand up one and things get lost in the bottom, though. so, once the mice are gone I’m not sure if I’ll keep it or create something new. now that I’m back into knitting again, I may go with something more easily accessible. as long as my dog stays out of it; she’s good about not touching my stuff, but if I start crocheting her toys she may get confused. hm.
