The pattern I mentioned below uses yarn (Robin Casino Crepe 4 ply) I’ve never heard of nor can I find online so I want to buy something that’s a similar weight but I don’t really know what 4-ply means. Is this worsted? Sport weight? Sock? When I look on Ravelry it seems that all I find is sock yarn but that seems awful skinny for a baby tunic and undies.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
4-ply is fingering weight, which is one ply thinner than sport weight. You could probably get away with using sport weight, as fingering weight can be hard to find in some stores. Hope that helps!
That does help. I went to look at yarn today but wound up empty handed because of my total confusion. I do think that baby weight yarn will do too, it seems nice and light, but it’s not that crepe finish. Crepe (or so I’ve read) is yarn that’s more twisted…which makes it sound good because I’d think that would stop it from splitting as some yarn loves to do…
Walmart is ass for yarns these days.
4-ply is the british term for fingering-ish weight. If you look up the suggested yarn on Ravelry it should tell you the WPI (wraps per inch) and then you can search for other yarns with the same WPI.
I bit the bullet and started the pattern using some bamboo sock yarn that was given to me. Inevitably I will get through half the pattern, run out of yarn and never buy more and finish the project…
