Inspired by etsy, I have made a bunch of crochet rings and I love them. Much like the acorns, they don’t use up a lot of stash but they’re so fast and instantly satisfying that I love love love them. You will love them too. I’ve already given two away-to my mom-and have been wearing one all day. We were at the Cabbagetown Festival all afternoon (where my mom had her tongue stung by a wasp hidden in a pop can! YIKES!) surrounded by so much craft and art that no one noticed my ring or my acorn necklace. Sigh.
Speaking of Cabbagetown, I spied an amazing little restaurant that’s closed but would be so cool to open as a teeny little taco stand or…well, something. I’d love to be a part of that.
I don’t actually know if it’s for rent, so don’t get too excited.
Speaking of crafts, I was given a huge collection of craft magazines from the early-mid 70′s and I love them. I’ve been going over and over them, looking at the amazing patterns and trying to decide where to start. Jana came by on her way to…where, the moon? and took lots of pictures of patterns so she can knit up adorable baby things. Not that they are all baby patterns, but this one appealed to me and I’m going to start working on it soon:
Cute, huh? Too bad I don’t know anyone with a baby. Oh, wait. Everyone I know has a baby. Anyway, I’ve been strongly considering starting another website where I scan in pages of Golden Hands every day and post them and then you can enjoy the wonder that is Golden Hands. Magazine.
And finally, speaking of wigs, this sign really made me laugh:

Because of this entry last night I dreamt:
1) That I was modelling one of your rings and someone complimented me on it so I gave it to them.
2) You, Shannon, Kevin and I opened a restaurant where we alternated evenings cooking and I was stressed out about decorating the place.
I can mail you a couple if you like. One day. I’m good at making and terrible at mailing.
My imaginary taco and beer only restaurant is actually pretty simple, just some mis-matched chairs from the Salvation Army and some little tables. Paintings by Shannon on the walls.
You do understand how awesomely amazing Kevin is at Messican food, right?
I had no idea but it makes sense, him being a displaced (misplaced?) Texan and all. I was really pushing this on Michael, Saira’s husband who moved to LaPaz when Shannon was there and was well on his way to opening a decent gringo restaurant when things…well, when he moved back to Toronto. He was going to open a taco stand, Toronto did this food stand thing where now you can get stuff other than smog-dogs, which was exciting, but the application process was ridiculous and the $$$ involved…
When I come out to Ann Arbor for a vacation I will expect tacos, creamy chicken enchiladas and steaks. After all, he has to know how to grill a steak too, right?
Oh man, does he ever. And we have a charcoal grill OF COURSE. Steaks, ribs, brisket…
Maybe me and Therasa will make the trip next spring. We’ll come on the train, you’d just need to pick us up at VIA.
That’s far enough in the future that I should be able to actually get over to Canada (and back) safely.
LOVE the rings! do you sell them anywhere? what do i have to do to get my hands on, or should i say in, them?!?!
