Moving right along

By in a good day, love

I’d tried to delete my myspace page a couple months ago but wasn’t able to  because I couldn’t remember the password for the email that I’d used to sign up. It’s my oldest email address and I think that it may be completely dead. So after I read an article on boingboing about people who were unable to delete their…some social networking thing…pages, I followed suit and am hoping that one day it just disappears. I still need to delete all the comments from friends-the most recent one was over a year ago which tells you how important it’s been to me.

myspace

I think a few of my (American) friends still use myspace, but for the most part, it’s a ghost town. It took forever to delete my blog there, ugh. That’s a part of my life I will never get back.

We went for a walk today in Tommy Thompson Park, which is really like a conservation area. We saw lots of different birds, a rabbit and Ari and I did an enormous service to the snails crawling on the path by rescuing them from being squashed by human feet. Snails are so cool, I love their eyes. Mostly when you pick them up, they hunch up into their shells, all scared. But sometimes they don’t notice and their eyes are sticking straight out, looking around and I kept wondering what they were thinking (“I’m in outer space I think!”) and then Shannon said they’re really just little machines with no real concious thought and I had to agree. Still, they’re cute and one rode on my rubber boot for 20 minutes. My passenger. Then I found a tiny baby snail and it crawled all over the back of my hand, climbing Mount Knuckle. Then my boot was rubbing my foot in a bad way so we turned around and hobbled back to the truck.

Then we got sushi from T&T. The salmon and avocado rolls are the best. I also got 4 yellow kiwis and the nice lady gave me a plastic spoon that has a serrated knife on the handle to cut the kiwis open and scoop them out.

I saw Bruno last night. Um. I did not enjoy it but maybe it’s better the second time ’round. I found it boring, tiresome and unfunny for the most part. Where Borat was cringingly painful to watch, Bruno was just awful. Maybe someone else could explain why I didn’t enjoy it. Maybe I am just tired of seeing weiners in every movie these days. It’s not shocking anymore, ok? SBC also enjoys taking a joke crazy far and in Borat (“What is this?” “It’s cheese.” “And this?” “Cheese.” “This?” “Also cheese.”) I found it hilarious, but in Bruno just annoying.

[Hmm, this review seems close to how I feel (which I read after discussing it at length with Shannon last night-he didn't see it yet- and after writing the above paragraph).]

Anyway. I get to see The Dead Sea Scrolls tomorrow with my dad. I will report here to say if it was funnier or less funny than Bruno.

Oh, and if you haven’t yet, you really ought to check out this version of the song Warm Leatherette sung by Peter Murphy with Trent Reznor, Jeordie White and Atticus Ross. It’s the most brilliant thing ever and I found it because my friend Ali was saying she’d heard The Normal’s version (aka, the original) of that song and how ridiculous it was so I wanted a refresher. This version is seriously awesome and if I don’t hear it daily I don’t feel complete. Yes, I’ve been banging on about it on facebook for a week. Peter Murphy’s playing in Toronto tonight at The Opera House and I’m strongly considering going. If only I had money.

Yeah, speaking of Borat, I would like to thank you for draining 15 minutes of my life away by making me watch that whole, “They say when a horse is sad…..” sketch. It was some sort of initiation though I don’t know for what. For all I know it has helped me in some way.

Heard Warm Leatherette on my iPod coming home from work the other day. Thought of you as well as attempted to sing along to it in a Peter Murphy voice. Needless to say I am glad I was alone in the car. (Kevin’s opinion of Peter Murphy, “Why does he always have to sing so SPOOKY?” He just doesn’t understand).

Okay this is a question that has been pestering me for a few days: Skinny big hair Peter Murphy? Or balding chunky Peter Murphy? Not like, in THAT way, just trying to figure out which version is better.

Oh, I don’t care what Peter Murphy looks like. He could look like Rita McNeil for all I care, it’s his voice that’s important.

And my utter jealousy that 2 of my old dear friends saw him in Ottawa on Friday night at a club that is tiny and holds, like, 100 people.

wow..I haven’t heard that song in forever…brings back memories of my badly mispent youth..And I agree, Peter Murphy’s voice is what’s important

  5. Allahkat says:

He certainly can do crazy things with it! And also now you have ME watching the video at least once a day.

I have a whole new song obsession now, I’ll blog about it later.
