Since Ashley‘s been blogging about making cheese, I got all jealous and wanted to be more productive too, so I am back on pickling mode. I made some pickled beets the other day, but they aren’t that great, I think the cider vinegar I used was a cheap one and watered down. They still taste nice, just not very pickly.
You can tell that someone‘s been eating them.
So I decided to make pickled turnips, like the kind you get on your falafel. They are pink, crunchy and kind of spicy. I had a hard time finding a recipe that even vaguely sounded right, but I chose this one and I am hoping for the best (they take a week to pickle, I won’t know ’til next Friday).
Oooh, I am so excited about these, my hopes are sky high.
