Work.

By in a good day, work

Today, at work, I did a double work out. Let me explain:

Normally I do a 20 minute bike ride-it’s a recumbent type bike-and I average 4.5 miles and burn about 400+ calories. So I did that today, but I was done with 35 minutes left to go on my shift, so I thought, what the hey, do another 20 minutes, so I cranked the difficulty down one notch and pedaled at 130 rpm instead of 145, read a magazine and…the grand total? 8.5 miles and 778 calories burned. Yes, I was very sweaty after. But I was neither tired nor sore. If I can do that 3 times a week I will be skinny before my birthday-May 11. Haha, just kidding.

Then I met Ari at school and we walked home, another 2.2km. Plus I am back onto wii fit. Now I am relaxing with a bottle  glass of wine.

I know I’ve said it before, but I am amazed by how much I enjoy the gym. And gym clothes.

145 RPM? I must be doing something wrong, as I rarely top 80 RPM (I go to the gym or run or ballet or swim almost everyday — it’s not due to being unfit!). How difficult is your setting? Maybe I should drop a few levels and go faster, I might end up getting more out of it!

I tell you, I used to set the seat back, so my legs extended like how you ride a bike, a proper bicycle, but I also found that I wasn’t burning many calories, working up a sweat or really getting anywhere. The secret is putting the seat forward, I leave enough room for my water bottle, and pound away.

I work it at 7. For now, it’s hard enough.

It’s probably wrong. But I feel skinnier and I’ve lost about 5lbs in the last 2 weeks.

Hmm I will try moving the seat forward then! I thought extended was better, but I am feeling quite frustrated these days!

Well, I don’t know how any of it works. I asked the gym guy yesterday, and he very clearly said that it’s better to extend your legs, which totally makes sense. And he also said that the numbers that the machine generates are pretty arbitrary. So I don’t really believe I burn that many calories, but I do sweat like crazy. He also said that you (meaning me) can plateau in a workout and it’s basically pointless to carry on and on so maybe 40 minutes isn’t a great idea after all.

Probably best to do 10 minutes on the bike, 10 on the elliptical, 10 on the treadmill, whatever, but to switch it up.
