Do you live in a city that has a Forever 21 store? There’s one in Toronto at Yonge and Dundas (where the Gap used to be) but I don’t really go there-it’s a lot smaller than the one at the mall in Detroit-ish (it’s in Dearborn) and a million times messier. In fact, last night it looked like a bomb had hit it. When I went to Windsor a couple weeks ago my friend Jill took me cross-boarder shopping and I got a t shirt there that I fell in love with. That’s why I was at the Toronto store last night, I was hell bent on buying at least one more, and I was hoping for more than that. Seriously, if there’d been a half dozen in my size, I would have bought them all.
There was only one.
Here’s why it’s nice: it’s super soft fabric that only gets softer after being washed. It’s long and goes all the way down to my jeans, unlike most shirts on my super long torso. It’s got orange stitching to keep it from looking boring.
Happy day indeed!

I really like Forever 21 although it is like two different stores to me. Sometimes I go in and it’s all junk and sometimes I find lots. They are all, as far as I can tell, badly organized and a lot of the time they will only have one or two of something I want but only in XS. I know what you mean about the t-shirts there, they’re good ones. I hate feeling like I have to pull my shirt down all day (and my job means I am often kneeling and squatting).
And their jeans are…always too small, which is a shame. The first time I went to a Forever 21 the store was organized by colour, which I loved, it looked so pretty. But you’re right about sizing and selection, it’s probably a great store if you’re 12 and wear a size 2.
I haven’t been since a trip to San Diego a few years ago. I love some of their stuff though.
I live about 20 min. north of Detroit, and at the “big” mall by me, there’s a Forever21 that’s like the size of a warehouse. I can pick you up a truckload and send em over if you’d like :)
That would be swell, especially if there are any that have different colour top stitching!
And FYI, I love Detroit, I am completely obsessed on that city. Not that I want to live there, but I love visiting.
If you’re serious, email me-caitlinjane and I use gmail.
hey, just wanted to let you know i (finally) sent you that money order for ellafunt! i also sent you an email about it. let me know when you get it :)
Okay okay okay. You have made me finally break down and decide to go in there and look for these shirts.
You won’t be sad, Ali. I think I even convinced the guy who helped me look for them to get one, ha!
H&M used to be the same way, organized by color, which I loved too. A lot of times when I am shopping I really am looking for a specific color without consciously planning it. The sizing definitely stinks at Forever 21 though, I wear a medium and depending on what I’m looking at there sometimes the xl won’t even fit.
Right again, Rach. I love H&M in theory-that’s where my favourite jeans of all time came from-but in practice…not so much. You know? I lived through the 80′s and it wasn’t that great, I don’t feel like reliving it via H&M.
I have an H&M at the mall I work at and honestly? I never understood what the big deal was about. I don’t care for their clothes at all.
There’s a Forever 21 being built at Fairview Mall, it’s been in progress for a few months, and may even be open by now. I haven’t worked there in about a month, so I don’t know for sure.
You mean Fairview in Toronto? It’s not open yet, according to the website it opens in Spring 09. I will probably end up making the trek there-I live in High Park so it’s pretty far!
Yeah that one, I think I’ve seen you there, that’s why I suggested it.
