Seriously, if you see me without a crochet hook in my hand, there’s got to be something seriously wrong with me. I am constantly working on some project or another…I already said I got a gift certificate for Romni here in Toronto, and I finally found the perfect yarn for my friend Nicole’s special request-zombie bunny slippers!
This is what I have so far. I am using a double strand, the bright green fluffy stuff and a strand of standard green poly whatever to toughen it up. I am not so sure about the face-I used a green button for the nose, ’cause, like, it’s rotton? And the eyes are red buttons, but the only red buttons I have are sailboat buttons, so they’re sewn on backwards. And the eyes are bleeding, see? The picture doesn’t really do it justice, trust me.
The red above his eyes is supposed to be blood out of it’s ears, but I don’t know, maybe it just looks weird. And I think it needs angry black eyebrows.
If anyone has helpful suggestions on how I can make it more zombie-ish, that would be great. Oh, and the plan for the second slipper is to start it in fluffy red, so, at the toes for a few rounds, red, then to the green, so it looks like it’s throat is slit. Or something?

haha, these are amazing!
Thank you so much, I love them. The furry green yarn you chose is perfect!
Mmmm BRAINS!
Send me ideas for trades?
He totally needs an angry zig-zaggy black unibrow.
You know… cause all Zombie Bunnies OBVIOUSLY have unibrows.
You’re amazing and I’d love a pair of bunny/kitty/puppy/elephant/whatever slippers, too.
caitlin this is BRILLIANT, all these baby cuties of your making make me want to retreat to fetal position, but in the wonderful loved sense not the i’m so f*cked sense. you’re putting “magic phony” to shame you know.
Magic phony?
Nicole begged me for these a LONG time ago, and it took me this forever-ness to find the right yarn. I’d be happy to make more for other people, but I think, from now on (and I mean, Nicole, yes, let’s trade) I’d like to get paid. I need money to replace yarn (ever shop at Romni? I got 6 balls of yarn for $50, most of it was on sale) and time, well, how much is time worth?
So I don’t know how much I’d charge for slippers. $40 sounds like a lot for slippers, doesn’t it?
zombie bunnies FTW.
just as an aside i saw this article and though of this place for some reason……lol

Woah. That bus is ridonkulous!
C- I don’t think $40 for slippers is too much. Generally, the people that buy “handmade” know things cost more then mass production and are willing to spend extra for things like this. Especially when custom! Personally, I even like the idea of supporting others within the trade.
So, I began sketching out your trade last night and finished it up about an hour ago. Yeah, I go through numerous scraps of paper with flooding ideas until I feel happy with one. Was going to scan it so you could take a peek before making pieces, but maybe you’d prefer it to be more of a surprise?
I am stuck on the base colour tho. I was originally thinking another bright colour but now Im leaning toward a camo affect. The bright glass would be ok on neutrals? Better with jeans and army shorts? Yeah, I think so. Maybe.
Ooh, that sounds good.
This is SUPER exciting!
I love the stuff you post on here – my knitting skills are limited to anything square or rectangular. So yes, everyone I know gets scarves :) $40 seems completely fair for the work you put into your product and for the yarn. I would gladly pay that.
Stitches!
