I love candy and I am always game for trying new things. This product, however, stopped me in my tracks: Skwinkles Salsagheti. I got it at the airport in Mexico City. The tagline reads “Dulce en tiras enchiladas sabor mango y salsa sabor tamarindo” with the English translation under “Hot mango flavored strips and tamarind flavored sauce”. Sounds revolting, right? It’s gruesome too, orange noodle-like strips with speckles of spice and a sachet packet underneath. I wish I was a person that abused drugs, then I might be more easily tempted to eat them. For now they will be shelved. If someone who’s braver than me would like to try them first, I say go ahead!
hehe, I’ve never tried hard drugs, and atm I hardly think about it, but I’m sure I could try one of those mango enchiladas… Mango fruit could be acid when is green outside, but I can’t get the point of “enchiladas” cause it comes from “chilli” and mango is not hot…btw tamarindo is also acid, I suppose is a mix between sweet and acid… isn’t it?
When I lived in Mexico I literally lost 15lbs because the candy selection was so poor.
The chocolate there wasn’t so great either. Or the gum. There was mountains of handmade candy at the airport but nothing was in English-or even remotely recognizable-so I avoided that too. I also didn’t try any icecream while there.
Huh. Now that I think about it, maybe I didn’t give Mexican sweets a proper chance.
The ice cream is supposed to be wonderful. Other than that, they of course have chiclets. You no like chiclets?!
Hmmm, after a night out at the clubs I bet I could talk my husband into trying them.
Mexico is mostly known for spicy food, hehe, you can’t expect having a nice chocolate, I love mexican food, but the best chocolate I have ever tested is from Venezuela. I’m still preferring Italian food!
I loved the food there, LOVED it. Holy tacos.
Although I did eat the worst meal of my entire life there, but that was a parody of a Christmas turkey dinner. We shouldn’t have gone for it, but it WAS Christmas eve and I was feeling like a proper meal!

i went down to mexico a while back and my cousin and aunt convinced me to try some of their crazy candy don’t be fooled by the delicious fruity flavor tamarind is not tasty and everything has chili powder on it i dunno why they put spicy on their candy its confusing… Kudos on the name though i woulda picked it up then read it and went eeeeeew
Like anywhere, Mexico is a nice place to live if you have money. I would be more likely to consider living there if I spoke/read/understood Spanish at all. I wouldn’t be able to work there without that.
Maybe the spicy mango strips aren’t so bad if you don’t use the sauce?
I’ve been living off banana and pina colada life savors with gummy sours thrown in for salivary purposes.
I say you should try them, the more I think about them, the less disgusting they seem.

they sell skwinkles at the store down the street from where I live, among other mexican candy.. they are hot, like most mexican candy..
The weird hot/sweet Mexican candy thing used to throw me for a loop, too, but its totally something you learn to love. Skwinkles, especially the mango flavored ones, are really actually extremely good – they aren’t too heavy on the chile and contrary to what another commenter said, tamarins flavored things are amazing!
