Dear Festiva,
I know most people would not expect you to be my favourite car in the world, but here we are. On the mornings I see you on my way to work I get an extra bounce in my step, knowing it will be a better day.
Sorry for the blurry picture, I had to take it clandestinely.

Every time I look at your blog I smile and am reminded how much I Love you.
And how much I love Ford Festivas?
i was a little confused at first, in the uk that was sold as a kia pride…
The tires are (almost) as big as my head!
Weird, indeed, Mike. We have Kia’s here too, but this for sure is a Festiva. If it were my car, I’d take better care of it, and probably paint a brighter colour. Matte white? Huh. That’s just cruel.
i don’t understand how people can’t love compact fuel-efficient adorable little cars like that. :) seriously – my first car love was a 1980 chevrolet chevette – i paid a whopping 400 USD for it and it smelled like potatoes regardless of air freshener bombings – but i adored that car and i miss it terribly. i bought a 1978 chevette and she had to go, too. i do like my v-dub jetta but i miss my little bugs. :(
Hilarious, of course.
Please write more, ok?
I have a lifelong fetish for hatchback cars. We had a series of them since I was a wee one. There’s just something special about this particular car. In our hood it’s a rarity.
I’d kiss it, but that might be weird. I have also considered writing notes and sticking them under the wipers, but, yeah, also weird.
Oh, and ps, Ashley, please put comments on your blog. You write stuff that I have opinions on that fade by the time I have opened gmail. That is when I sit staring at my screen wondering who I was going to write what to.
Your love for your festiva is merited and understandable. There are many MANY like you because the festiva is the best car EVER. Join us over at fordfestiva.com (not my site) I am carbonvmax there. We will welcome you and share a wealth of info and parts too because festiva owners are just down to earth, practical, and almost always nice!
neanderpaul
Thanks, Paul.
I had no idea there were so many people with Festiva fetish out there!
Paul posted about your Festiva pic and comments. I’ll echo his feelings for our little cars. I have three of them, and I wonder why little, simple lightweight cars aren”t made any more. Look at the world now!
Karl
Ash, Neanderpaul/carbonvmax and Karl/Safety Guy:
I joined the Festiva forum site. My user name is Fetishtiva, which I was shocked hadn’t been taken. I doubt that I will post anything, but maybe one day if I get my driver’s license, I will use it to find my dream car.
I had many bad experiences with a red Festiva owner years ago, and he almost ruined the car for me. that was about 12 years ago now. I can kind of let it go. a bit. kinda. I mean I drove one for a few weeks once and it was lovely and small and quick and adorable, but…. maybe I just hate red Festivas. red Festivas owned by little men with giant self-esteem issues. ya, that’s it.
(I have a Honda Fit and I LOVE the hatchback! I always feel so proud when I drive it.)
