Further autumnal rambling

By in a good day, Art!, food

Shannon’s already writing about our afternoon of pumpkin carving, so I won’t bore you with the details. I will cause jealousy by telling you how good the pumpkin seeds smell while roasting in the oven (325 for 25 minutes, drizzled with olive oil and salt). They are popping!

ha

They have similar teeth. Erm, and eyes. Blast that flash.

Also, we spent yesterday in Lindsey. Every time we visit Ryan and Corrie I am filled with feelings of extreme jealousy. I love their house and farm and kids and animals and garden and all of that stuff. One day I will live a similar life, I hope. Their turkeys must be nearing the end of their lives, Christmas meat instead of Thanksgiving, they were smallish and got a reprieve. They’re awful cute and silly and make the best whistling noises.

hi

See the horn above the beak of the fellow on the right? It gets bigger when he’s excited ;) Hee hee!

There are pumpkins that are specifically for pie and eating, and you can eat their seeds and flesh, but the carving pumpkins, you are not supposed to eat their flesh, but the seeds are fair game. Always have been, my whole life!

I baked pumpkin seeds too from my pumpkin. I used a recipe with worcestershire sauce, butter, salt and garlic salt. I think I left them in the oven too long. My husband won’t eat them and he’ll eat anything.

    Your recipe sounds better.
