Good news vs. Bad news

By in a good day, daily grind, food, we have fun

I had a great day. Seriously.

The three of us went out for lunch today at a funny little weiner restaurant that was pretty good, apart from the sporadic-at best-service. While there, I saw a flier for a farmer’s market that is reasonably close to where we live and was happening today.

SO, I rode my bike there and guess what? It was GREAT. The vendors were all really nice and the prices not too bad. I got a bunch of beets (yeah, beets, I love beets!), and bunch of rainbow swiss chard, a hunk of garlic/feta bread and a loaf of beet bread! Look how pretty it is!

YUM!

Then I rode my bike to Loblaws to get this hand soap that Emily has that she hates, but I love, but they didn’t have any, so I went to Zeller’s (where the lowest price is the law) and got some soap, a night light for the bathroom and 2 balls of alpaca (well, 30% alpaca, 70% acrylic, but it’s washable!) yarn (one brown and one pink) with a cute pattern on the label to make a bucket type hat. You must know how I feel about hats by now, right? I will tell you if you forgot: Pretty fucking good.

Yarny goodness

Then I came home and remembered I should mention something about the belt buckle I didn’t receive in the mail the other day. Shannon did, but he never ever wears belts so I have adopted it as my own. I like it because it’s simple and people won’t confuse me with someone who does know how to square dance (I have a square dance belt buckle too that I love). It’s from CJ who lives in Thailand via Dallas. Don’t ask. He’s a member of TSD and will hook (haha!) you up if you want. Maybe I put my belt on backwards, but the logo is upside down. That’s ok, I still like it.

TSD

(Yep, I have the same shirt as my mother, yay!)

Ok, so with a long run of good news, I was almost not going to post the bad news. But I have to, things are getting tense around here:

I have looked high and low for my hair iron. Seriously. I have searched in every drawer, every box, every storage thing, each bag, all closets and cupboards. I have looked in all the obvious places more than once, and the less obvious places too. It’s gone. I don’t want to buy a new one yet, because like my tweezerman tweezers that I lost and replaced, I don’t want to find it a week later in an incredibly obvious and stupid place (like under the stove or in a bucket of paint). If you own an iron because you thought, hey, I like smooth hair, but don’t use it and want to pay it forward to someone who does use them, please think of me. Times are getting rather desperate.

Big. Hair.

This is what it looks like. It’s freshly washed and has a LOT of gooey hair goop in it. Yet it’s still enormous. I hope someone out there loves me and feels pity.

I like your enormous hair. I’d love it if mine looked like that rather than horrendously frizzy.

Your times might be desperate, but your hair is still straighter than mine w/o the flat iron so, unfortunately, I’ll have to keep mine. I’d share with you if you lived near me, though!

Just a passerby who thinks you’re pretty cool, thought I’d say hello. :) Oh, and the Bernat yarn is quite heavenly to work with, have fun!

  3. Caitlin Jane says:

Thanks, both of you. I guess I don’t hate my hair, exactly, but I would like to have a smooth hair option.

Now I am going to drink some Rose wine.

I like your hair that way! I wish my hair would get big – mine us super straight and just hangs no matter what i do :/

I have twice as much hair as the average human. Perhaps thrice. My old hair gal told me she had to get her scissors sharpened after cutting it. Which takes almost 2 hours, on average. Also, I almost never wash it, so that might add to the time spent in the salon chair.

Being your hair-twin, this is why I keep mine short.

I must say that you look pretty fine in that picture. Guess that we all want hair that we don’t have. My hair is flat, straight, blonde and hell! Can we switch?

the grass is always greener, I have to say. My hair is tentatively growing back after the very common postpregnancy fall-out. Something they never tell you in Sex Ed.
