This picture represents the most dangerous part of the house I live in. For some reason it’s incredibly slippery and every time I walk on it, whether in slippers, socks or bare footed, I falter. My arms wave in the air and I mutter “whoa whoa!” So this happens about 20 times a day/night. I’ve given it a lot of thought and think someone either spilled cornstarch in the area in front of my closet OR sprayed it purposely with Pam. So, if you’re ever heading out to the third (or is it fourth?) floor balcony, be careful.
And if anyone has any suggestions as to how I might make it not slippery (short of sanding the floor or dumping glue there) I’d appreciate the help.

Throw rug? One with a non-slip pad underneath?
I tried calling you the other day. I was feeling sentimental. If I try this in the future when is a good time to reach you?
Thursdays. Or maybe weekends. I don’t know, I work odd hours and between times I have my headphones on and can’t hear my phone. But I got a new phone and I love love love it. Wee-ooo!
Dear slippery feet,
There are two materials that may be useful in reducing or eliminating the slippery spot. If it is a Pam like substance, then it is an oil based material which I have found is best removed by a dishwashing detergent of which Dawn is my favorite! If it is silicon based, then an alcohol based solvent is best. My favorites are isopronanol alcohol or beer. In both cases it should be applied to a cloth then wiped over the spot to try and remove it.
If the floor has been waxed, you may need to use an ammonia product to strip the wax first.
I wish I was more serious about cleaning. And to be fair, I did notice that my hair goop had leaked onto the floor and that is probably one of the slippery problems. I half assed wiped it up but the floor is just as treacherous as before, maybe worse.
put carpet on the floor?
