I almost typed “Lost Weeners” which would not have made much sense. Ok, a report on my weekend away from my loved ones:
I left Friday afternoon, I think the train was at noon on the button but I don’t exactly remember. I got in the wrong line at the train station, which figures, behind two women also in the wrong line. Thank goodness we figured it out, otherwise I’d probably still be in Montreal. I ended up sitting beside the girl in line, as the train was oversold (yay!) and she farted all the way to Windsor. Luckily I had the aisle seat and could lean out to breathe fresh(er) air. Unluckily the man across the aisle facing me who looked like the scary clown in that Rob Zombie movie ogled me the entire trip. Like, go to sleep please!
Good thing the train was only 45 minutes late, I mean, as opposed to going to Montreal, and Karen picked me up at the station in Windsor. I’d had a minor panic attack in the last few minutes on the train (which amounted to heavy breathing, sweating, and repeated chanting “I don’t want to be here! I don’t want to be here!”) but when I laid eyes on my friend, I realized I’d be ok. We headed home and watched the beginning of my favourite movie to watch with Karen, “Sooner or Later” starring Rex Smith. Then we ate dinner and headed out to the mall so she could pick up the movie she’d ordered at HMV. Which we watched when we got home, and it was great. Then bed time.
Saturday morning Shirann picked me up and we immediately headed over to sunny Detroit to shop at Target. I had a huge list, so we split up and I zoomed off with a cart. Lord, I went crazy, got shoes for me, 2 pairs of pants for Shannon, pharmacy stuff, groceries, like, yeah, $140.00 USD of junk incredibly useful stuff. We got stopped at the border to pay taxes (my first time, but I guess they pull people over more now that the American dollar is so weak) which came to just over $10.00. Not bad. Then we went to Shirann’s house and watched “Footloose”, then headed out to Koolini’s for dinner, with her man, Rob. Lovely.
That evening, back at Karen’s, there was band practice going on. Loudly. Greg and I goofed around, a lot, taking crazy pictures of each other. The first one is Greg as Lindsey Lohan’s mugshot, and the second is Greg kissing Nomi’s boobs. Very nice.
Sunday, I met Ali and her husband for brunch. We went Log Jammin’ and it was every bit as awesome as ever. And it was superawesomegreat to see an old friend. Then I went to Kim’s house, for her widow’s party she has every year on Superbowl weekend. Sadly, most of her girlfriends were either sick themselves or were nursing sick children, so the turnout wasn’t what it had been in previous years. Still, it was fantastic to see old friends and I ate a lot of food.
Back to Karen’s, and we just watched tv and chilled out. Then her boyfriend came home, I went to bed with visions of seeing my favourite person in the whole wide world the next day.
Monday morning, Karen’s mom, Marlene, came and picked me and my extreme amounts of stuff and took us to the train station. I got 2 seats to myself for the trip home, so I got to sleep most of the way. Shannon and Ari met me and it was like, the best moment of my whole trip. Well, you know what I mean.
You know what the best part of the weekend really was? Not talking about the ugliness of personal business the entire time. Yes, I talked about it a little bit, but it certainly did NOT take up the whole weekend. That was nice. Apparently I can talk about other stuff!
omg we had such a good time eating breffus with you! I missed you a lot a lot a lot. Sorry that I did bring up personal biznass; and well, sorry that Kevin is almost a mute. He does get better though. Next time we see each other he’ll probably actually speak. It took him about two visits to Dani’s to make any noise at all.
And now, poo chair = touch base.
